Lymphatic Facilitation Massage

Lymphatic Facilitation is a very light, slow and rhythmic modality. It helps jump-start the lymphatic system in the body. Lymph is clear fluid that carries water, fatty acids, proteins, as well as other components. The Lymphatic system is responsible for bringing the lymph back into the blood stream in order to balance the body's fluids. Lymphatic Facilitation is used to help increase the healing process, remove edema and swelling, and assists in removal of metabolic and environmental wastes which can aid in recovery. It is a great massage for detoxification and is also good for athletes. Lymphatic massage can improve and enhance internal tissue nutrition for increased athletic performance. This modality is not meant to treat Lymphedema.

Cupping Therapy

A great addition to any type of massage! Our therapists use a combination of gliding and stationary techniques with silicone or glass cups. Cups are most commonly placed on the back, neck and shoulders, or the site of pain. Cupping is a great technique to help bring blood flow back to the area and help release that stubborn knot. it is also known for helping break up scar tissue.

Hot Stone Therapy

Special smooth, flat lava stones are heated and placed on key points of the neck, back, abdomen and palms of the hands. The heat of the rocks allows muscles to relax, joints to loosen and circulation to improve. Promotes a deep sense of relaxation, health and well being.

Reflexology

An art and science based on the principle that there are reflex points in the hands and feet corresponding to each organ and major muscle group of the body. Skillful massaging of these reflex points sends signals that balance the nervous system and release helpful chemicals like endorphins to reduce pain and stress.

Reiki

Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. Reiki is a very specific form of energy healing, in which hands are placed just off the body or lightly touching the body. In a session, the practitioner is seeking to transmit universal life energy to the client. The intention is to create deep relaxation, to help speed healing, reduce pain, and decrease other symptoms you may be experiencing. Reiki is a simple, natural and safe method of energy healing that everyone can use.

Pregnancy Massage

Studies indicate that massage therapy performed during pregnancy can reduce anxiety, decrease symptoms of depression, relieve muscle aches and joint pains, and improve labor outcomes and newborn health. Our therapists have had specific training in this field and special massage body pillows are provided for maximum comfort. Women in their first trimester must get a written note of release from their midwife or obstetrician.

Shiatsu and/or Thai Massage

Japanese in origin, Shiatsu utilizes the same treatment method as acupuncture by addressing energy channels of the body known as meridians. With the client fully clothed, this is done through compressing and releasing tissue as well as full body stretches to rejuvenate and stimulate Chi, the vital force of energy in the body. Increasing the flow of Chi through the body can alleviate issues such as low back pain, shoulder pain, and neck tension.

Similar to Shiatsu, Thai Massage is done with the client fully clothed to open energy lines referred to as “sen” using specific yogic postures. Thai Massage allows for more creative expression for the therapist allowing treatments to be specific and customized.

Both modalities can take place on the floor or table. Both incorporate deep, full body stretches for a holistic approach to treatment.
