Aromatherapy and Its Antibacterial Properties

Did you know aromatherapy isn’t just for the pleasant scent? Aromatherapy has so many benefits when used in a massage. Quite simply, it enhances the work your massage therapist is doing. As your therapist manually brings blood into undernourished muscles and breaks apart stubborn knots and adhesions, the essential oils used in aromatherapy can help reduce pain, combat inflammation, reduce spasms, and further increase circulation. Some essential oils have antibacterial qualities, as well. With this virus going around, we can all benefit from using essential oils as a preventative. The best part of essential oils is that they are natural and chemical-free.

There are several different essential oils. Some that we offer in our aromatherapy sessions are Lavender, Eucalyptus, Peppermint, Grapefruit, Orange and Tea Tree oil.

Lavender, Eucalyptus, and Peppermint are all particularly loved by your muscles. Each provides relief from muscle aches and pains. Are you feeling stuffed up from a cold or allergies? These essential oils are great for your respiratory health and helping clear those sinuses, too.

Grapefruit and Orange are excellent for increasing blood flow, while also toning skin and muscles. Orange and Grapefruit not only create a warm environment with their pleasant scent but, can also stimulate the strength and resilience of the immune system and eliminate airborne bacteria.

Tea Tree oil is known for its antibacterial properties. Tea Tree oil is valued as a natural remedy for treating bacterial and fungal skin conditions, preventing infection and promoting healing.

Aromatherapy has a very beneficial effect on your mood. Is your brain fried after a stressful day of work or study? Eucalyptus and Peppermint bring you back out of that fog while your massage restores your mind, body and spirit. If you are feeling particularly wound up, go for that relaxing lavender. With Grapefruit and Orange’s citrus smell, they leave you feeling energized and refreshed with a clear mind.
